Happy SQL Saturday #49 Eve!
Tomorrow will be Orlando’s fourth annual SQL Saturday, my third time volunteering at this city’s event, and I swear you can literally feel the excitement in the air! I am so geeked about it finally being here, and double bonus, I didn’t have to drive all the way from Pensacola this time around…WAHOO!
Twitter has been lit up all week about #sqlsat49 , and already going crazy this morning with all the speakers getting on their flights or making the long haul here in their vehicles. The SQL Server communities dedication is unparallel to any other industry that I have witnessed, and in my opinion, speakers are right at the top of that food chain. Traveling long distances, incurring personal expenses, and taking time out of their weekends and away from their loved ones, all to bring free training to the rest of us out here. You gotta love ‘em!
Some things that I am looking forward to tomorrow along with volunteering (which is really so much fun, if you haven’t volunteered before, I highly recommend it as it is rewarding but also much needed by those organizing these events), includes seeing old friends, meeting new twitter friends, learning some cool new stuff, and spending some time with the other PASS Regional Mentors that will be in town for some “RM Wiki” building fun. I will blog next week about the results of this PASS project, for those who have been asking “What is an Regional Mentor”, we hope the results of our work will glean light onto what the newly retooled RM role is all about.
My volunteer role tomorrow is the first morning check-in, so if you are attending this event, be sure to say “Hi”. I’ll be the caffeine induced blonde, so you can’t miss me!
Ok, time to get some work done in the house. We have a couple of speakers that are our guests this weekend (hope they like the “hotel” feel I’ve created for them). I can tell already that I am not going to be able to sleep tonight. It feels like Christmas in October!
